To get an impression of what the ‘post-human’ future holds, you only have to look at a warehouse of a company like Amazon. To protect themselves against their technological environment, human employees here work – already – from inside a cage. Designer Viviane Komati made use of the same artificial intelligence code that organizes such logistics infrastructure to generate a fictional distribution center. Things City is a warehouse as large and complex as a city, with delivery drones, logistics bots, and packages as its inhabitants. Here, any sense of humanity is usurped by superior technology.
