After thousands of years of obscurity, a secret society of Tricksters is going public. The Confusionists target the main weapon of Surkov, Putin, Trump, Bolsonaro, Erdogan and others: deliberately creating confusion. For too long, the power of confusion has been abused by governments that masquerade as democracies, but meanwhile undermine the age-old balance between emotional engagement and critical thinking of their citizens, fundamental to our self-governance. The Confusionist Movement, a one-hour monologue recorded at Baltan Laboratories in Eindhoven, reclaims confusion as a tool for positive change. If the powers that be try to fool us, we can only knock them off their pedestals by creating confusion ourselves.
